Setting Up the Integration

  1. Log in to Freshdesk as an administrator
  2. Click your profile picture in the top-right corner and select Profile settings
  3. Scroll to the API section
  4. Under Your API key, click Generate (if you already have a key, copy it)
  5. Copy the API key and store it securely

Your Freshdesk subdomain is the first part of the URL you use to access your helpdesk. For example, if you access Freshdesk at https://company.freshdesk.com, your subdomain is company.

Provide the following credentials to your NodeKAT administrator:

  • Subdomain (FRESHDESK_DOMAIN) — e.g., company.freshdesk.com
  • API Key (FRESHDESK_API_KEY) — from your Freshdesk profile settings

Your administrator will configure NodeKAT to use these credentials.

NodeKAT authenticates with Freshdesk using API key authentication over Basic Auth. This means:

  • No user login flow is required — the integration authenticates as itself
  • The integration is read-only — it can search and read tickets but cannot create, update, or delete them
  • No inbound endpoints or callback handling is needed
  • Access is scoped to what your API key can access in Freshdesk
